Shirred-Waist
Wide-Leg Trousers
Full-length wide-leg trousers with a shirred waistband, front pleats and side pockets. Twelve colours.
The waistband is shirred, not elasticated into a channel.
A shirred waist is elastic you can actually see working
A drawstring gathers the cloth at one point and leaves the rest to sag. Shirring runs the elastic through the whole band in rows, so the gather is even the whole way round — which is why the pleats below it fall in the same place every time you put them on.
Pleated from a shirred band
Cotton trousers, comfortable, tailored to the natural silhouette, versatile from day to night and made in an easy-care fabric.
The trousers photographed have a deep shirred waistband, pleats released below it into a full wide leg, side pockets and a full length that breaks at the floor. Twelve colours appear in the gallery.

Why it costs what it costs
A wide leg uses close to twice the cloth of a straight one, and the shirred band on top of it is rows of elastic stitched individually rather than one casing threaded once. Almost all of the cost in a trouser like this is material and machine time, and almost none of it is trim.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between this and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a piece like this is simply not in the price.
- Sold direct — no retail margin stacked on the pair
- A shirred band rather than a single drawstring
- Pockets at the side
- Twelve colours, one style
- Seven calendar days from delivery to return or exchange, unworn and in its original condition.
