Striped
Shawl Cardigan
A buttoned cardigan in a horizontal multi-stripe knit, with a solid shawl collar, cuffs and hem.
The collar is knitted plain. It has to be, or the stripes would fight it.
Stripes are decided at the side seam
A horizontal stripe either lines up where the front meets the back or it does not, and there is nothing to be done about it once the panels are off the machine. The count has to be planned before a single row is knitted, which is why cheap stripe knitwear steps at the seam.
Striped body, solid trim
A colourblock striped cardigan with a wide shawl collar and a buttoned front, worn from the office to a casual weekend.
It has a wide shawl collar, cuffs and hem knitted plain in brown against a body and sleeve striped in mustard, navy, rust, olive, blue and orange, with four buttons down the front.
How it wears
- A wide shawl collar in plain brown
- Four buttons down the front
- Horizontal stripes through body and sleeve
- Plain cuffs and hem
- One colourway
The product
A block-striped cardigan with a wide shawl collar and a buttoned front: relaxed in fit, loud in colour, and easy to move from a workday to a weekend.
One colourway
A single multi-stripe against a brown trim.
Why it costs what it costs
Six colours in one garment means six yarns loaded on the machine and six ends carried and trimmed at every changeover. A plain cardigan uses one. Almost all of the difference in price between the two is that count, and none of it is design.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between this and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a piece like this is simply not in the price.
- Sold direct — no retail margin stacked on the piece
- Stripes planned to meet at the seam
- A shawl collar knitted in one band
- Plain cuffs and hem against a striped body
- Seven calendar days from delivery to return or exchange, unworn and in its original condition.
