Classic Square
Aviator Sunglasses
The aviator squared off: a double-bar metal front with straight lower edges and a slim blade temple. Five colourways.
Polarised lenses with anti-glare treatment and full UV400 filtering.
The aviator, straightened out
A classic aviator tapers to a rounded point at the bottom. This one does not: the lower edge runs straight and the corners are cut square, so the shape keeps the double-bar architecture of the original and loses the curve. It is a small change, and it is the difference between a frame that reads vintage and one that reads current.
Photographed here in the dark-lens finish. The same front is offered in five colourways.
Two bars, straight edges
The front is a double-bar build: a straight brow bar across the top and a second bar below it at the bridge, with the lens carried between them in a thin metal rim. Nose pads sit on short metal arms, so the height on the nose is set rather than accepted.
The temples are slim flat blades, hinged on small metal barrels, with a short textured section just behind the joint and a moulded black tip at the end. Nothing on the frame is thicker than it needs to be.
Where it sits
- A medium-wide fit that covers the eye without reaching the brow
- The brow bar sits along the line of the eyebrow rather than above it
- Nose pads on metal arms set the height and keep the rim off the cheek
- Thin metal keeps the weight low for a frame this wide
- Moulded tips curve behind the ear rather than gripping it
Filtered, not just tinted
The lenses are polarised with an anti-glare treatment and full UV400 filtering across UVA and UVB. Polarisation is what removes the flat white shine off a wet road, a windscreen or open water; UV400 is the protection figure, and it is the number worth reading on any pair.
The Silver finish is supplied with an untinted lens — a frame rather than a sun lens. The other four are tinted, from a pale peach through to a dark grey.
Five colourways, one front
Brown, Light Gold and Black use the gold-tone front; Blue and Silver use the silver-tone front.
Why it costs what it costs
A double-bar metal front is more work to build than a single rim. Two bars have to be brazed level with each other and the lens cut square to both, barrel hinges cost more than pressed pins, and a polarised lens costs more than a tint. None of that is where the usual shelf price comes from.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between the frame and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a build like this is simply not in the price. What that money pays for instead is the lens — polarised with UV400 across the tinted colourways, rather than the good lens being reserved for one finish.
- Sold direct — no retail margin stacked on the frame
- Polarised, UV400 lenses rather than a plain tint
- Double-bar metal front instead of a moulded plastic one
- Nose pads on adjustable arms, so one frame fits a range of bridges
- Five colourways at one price, including an untinted option

Is this a unisex frame?
Yes. The squared aviator is one of the few shapes that sits the same way on most faces — the width is medium and the double bar keeps it from reading either delicate or heavy.
Can the nose pads be adjusted?
Yes. They sit on metal arms and can be pinched closer or eased apart by hand to raise or lower the frame. Any optician will do it in a minute if you would rather not.
What does polarised actually change?
It removes the flat glare that bounces off horizontal surfaces — wet tarmac, a car bonnet, water, snow. Colours look deeper and you squint less. It is separate from UV filtering, which this lens also carries at UV400.
What is the Silver finish?
The same frame supplied with an untinted lens. It is bought as a frame — for the look, or to be reglazed to prescription — rather than as a sun lens. The lens still carries UV protection.
Will the plated finish wear?
It keeps its finish best when the pair goes back into its case rather than loose into a bag.
How should it be cleaned?
Rinse under cool water to lift grit, then dry with the cloth supplied. Dry-wiping a dusty lens is what causes the fine scratching people blame on the coating.
Five colourways, and not many of each
Each finish is held in a small run. The blue and the peach are the two that go first, and when a colourway goes it is not always brought back.
Pick your colourway above and add it to the bag. If it is not right on your face, send it back — the only thing you risk is missing the one you wanted.
