Crochet Raffia
Tote — Blue
A large open-crochet raffia tote in a washed blue, unlined, with two carrying handles.
Forty by thirty-four, and you can see straight through it.
An open weave is a deliberate choice, not a shortcut
Leaving gaps in the crochet halves the weight and lets a wet towel dry rather than sit. It also means the structure has to come entirely from the tension of the stitch, because there is no solid panel anywhere to hold the shape.
Hand-worked raffia
It has a hand-crafted natural raffia dyed blue, unlined, light and airy, with lettering worked into the front panel in a contrasting stitch.
Two carrying handles have a carrying length of about 35 cm, which is enough for the shoulder as well as the hand.
How it carries
- Two handles, carrying length approx. 35 cm
- In the hand or over the shoulder
- Unlined, so it stays very light
- An open crochet that dries out
- Room for a towel, a book and sunglasses
The product
Exterior: hand-crafted raffia in blue with stitched lettering on the front. Lining: unlined, light and airy. Two carrying handles, carrying length approx. 35 cm; carried in the hand or over the shoulder. Width 40 cm, height 34 cm. Room for a beach towel, sunglasses, sunscreen, a book and a smartphone.
One colour
Offered in a blue hand-crafted raffia. This is the only colour.
Why it costs what it costs
The lettering on the front is worked into the crochet as it is made, not appliquéd afterwards, which means it has to count stitches across a panel 40 cm wide and get the letters to land square. Doing that by hand, on an open weave, is the whole skill of the piece.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between this bag and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a piece like this is simply not in the price.
