A welt pocket is a hole you cut on purpose
There is no flap to hide behind and no patch sewn on top: the opening is cut into the coat front and bound with a strip of the same cloth. Get it a millimetre out of square and it shows from across a room, which is why it is the pocket tailors are judged on.
Lapelled, buttoned, welted
It is a woollen overcoat with a sleek mid-length silhouette and a tailored fit, for both formal events and everyday wear.
It is single-breasted with a notched lapel, a welt pocket at the chest, two welt pockets below, metal buttons and a length to around mid-thigh. Three colours are offered.

Why it costs what it costs
A long coat is mostly one enormous panel of cloth on each side, and there is nowhere for a fault to hide on it. It is why coats are cut from the best of the roll and jackets from the rest, and it is most of what you are paying for in any coat over the knee.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between this and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a piece like this is simply not in the price.
