Knee length is the hardest length to cut
Above the knee is a short and below it is a trouser; land exactly on the joint and the leg has to be wide enough to clear the knee when you sit and narrow enough not to flap when you stand. A turned cuff weights the hem and settles the whole thing.

Why it costs what it costs
A slubbed cloth is woven from yarn with deliberate thick and thin places, which is what gives the surface its texture and also what makes it drape softly rather than hanging like paper. It costs more per metre than a smooth weave and it is the whole reason these do not read as gym shorts.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between this and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a piece like this is simply not in the price.
