A stand collar has to hold itself up
A lapel is supported by the whole front of the coat folding back with it. A stand collar has nothing: it is one band of cloth interlined stiffly enough to stay vertical and softly enough not to saw at the neck. Getting that balance is the entire job.

Why it costs what it costs
Three welt pockets on a coat is three openings cut into the front panels and bound by hand before anything is assembled. There is no flap to cover a crooked one, which is why the detail appears on tailored coats and almost never on cheap ones.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between this and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a piece like this is simply not in the price.
