Checked Canvas
Open Tote
The same open tote in a pale checked coated canvas, with leather handles, side cinch straps and a striped lining.
The pale version of the same tote — same build, lighter ground.
Everything the brown one does, on a pale ground
This is the same tote built in a pale checked canvas instead of a dark printed one. Same open mouth, same wide handles, same cinch straps — the difference is what it does to a summer wardrobe rather than what it does on the shoulder.
Listed at checkout in white, in one size.
Checked canvas, leather handles
The body is a coated canvas in a pale check, cut with straight sides and a flat base, with leather handles set wide enough that the tote stays open on the shoulder.
A buckled strap on each side draws the tote in or lets it out, and the lining is a broad stripe against the pale ground so the inside stays readable.
How it carries
- An open mouth with no zip or flap
- Handles set wide, for the shoulder
- A buckled cinch strap on each side
- A striped lining against a pale body
- One colour, one size
The product
An elegant silhouette, a spacious interior for daily essentials and a comfortable shoulder carry, for work, travel, shopping and special occasions.
One colour
Listed at checkout in white. The same tote is listed separately in a dark printed canvas.
Why it costs what it costs
A check has to be squared before it is cut and matched again at every seam, which is why a checked bag costs more to make than a plain one and why a badly matched one is obvious from across a room.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between this bag and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a piece like this is simply not in the price.
- Sold direct — no retail margin stacked on the bag
- Leather handles rather than canvas straps
- Buckled cinch straps on both sides
- A coated canvas body rather than a printed cloth
- One colour, one price

1 × Checked Canvas Open Tote
How big is it?
It is a full-size shoulder tote.
Is it the same as the brown tote?
It is the same shape and build in a different canvas. The two are listed separately.
Does it close?
No. It is an open tote with no zip and no flap.
Is the pouch in the photographs included?
A matching zip pouch is shown alongside it but is not included.
What material is it?
A checked coated canvas with leather handles and trim.
Will a pale bag mark?
A pale coated canvas shows marks sooner than a dark one. A damp cloth used early is the whole maintenance routine.
One print, held in a small run
This is stocked in small quantities rather than carried continuously. When it goes it is not automatically repeated.
Add it to the bag. If it is not right, send it back.
