Driving Loafers
Penny loafers in a napped upper on a studded driving sole. Seven colours.
The saddle across the front is one piece with a slot cut in it. That slot is the whole style.
A penny saddle is the one part of a loafer that cannot be rushed
It is a single strip laid across the vamp with a slot cut through it, stitched down on both sides so the cut edge does not stretch. Get the tension wrong and the whole front of the shoe puckers around it.
Napped above, studded below
It is suede, with premium comfort that moulds to the foot, careful construction built to last and a shoe that moves from casual outings to evening wear.
The loafers photographed have a napped upper with a penny saddle across the vamp, apron stitching at the toe, a lightly padded collar and a studded driving sole. Seven colours appear in the gallery.

Why it costs what it costs
Studs set into the bottom of a shoe cost more than a flat sole glued on, and seven colours of a napped upper means seven separate dye lots held at once. Both are choices made before anyone has bought a pair.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between this and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a piece like this is simply not in the price.
- Sold direct — no retail margin stacked on the pair
- A penny saddle stitched across the vamp
- A studded driving sole
- Seven colours, one style
- Seven calendar days from delivery to return or exchange, unworn and in its original condition.
