Raffia Drawstring
Pouch Bag
A small handwoven raffia bag closing on a leather drawstring, with a removable woven shoulder strap.
A clutch and a crossbody, depending on whether the strap is on.
The whole bag weighs less than what goes in it
Handwoven raffia with no lining and no frame: the body is the only material there is. Taller than it is wide and gathered shut on a cord, it holds more than its footprint suggests and carries as though it holds nothing.
Woven raffia, leather cord
It has natural raffia, hand-crafted, with embroidery on the front and fine leather details, and an unlined interior.
The top gathers on a leather drawstring with gold-tone fittings. A woven shoulder strap clips on and off at a carrying length of about 37 cm, so the same bag works held in the hand or worn on the shoulder.
How it carries
- A removable strap, carrying length approx. 37 cm
- A leather drawstring with gold-tone fittings
- Unlined, so it stays very light
- Taller than it is wide, at 25 by 20 cm
- Hand-held or on the shoulder
The product
Natural raffia with embroidery on the front. Unlined, lightweight and natural. Leather drawstring closure with gold-tone details. Hand-held as a clutch; removable woven shoulder strap with a carrying length of approx. 37 cm. Width 20 cm, height 25 cm, depth 12 cm.
One colour
Offered in natural raffia. This is the only colour.
Why it costs what it costs
Embroidering into an open raffia weave is done by hand because a machine cannot register on a surface with holes in it. Every stitch has to find a strand to bite, which is why the lettering sits proud of the weave rather than sinking into it.
