Open Hoops

Thick open hoops in 14K gold-plated stainless steel or stainless steel, water resistant.

Thick gold open hoop earrings

Open hoops go on without a catch. The tension in the metal is the fastening.

01 The idea

An open hoop has to spring back to exactly where it started

There is no clasp to take the strain, so the hoop is pushed open and closed by the wearer every time. If the metal takes a set the two ends stop meeting, and the earring is finished.

02 The product

Two tones, one gauge

Chunky hoops plated in 14K gold and water resistant, a bold, modern statement. The materials are 14K gold-plated stainless steel, or stainless steel for the silver.

The earrings photographed are a thick open hoop on a post, the tube widening slightly towards the front. Two finishes appear in the gallery.

06 The value

Why it costs what it costs

The base is steel rather than a soft alloy, which is what lets an open hoop keep springing back.

We sell direct. There is no shop floor between this and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a piece like this is simply not in the price.

  • Sold direct — no retail margin stacked on the pair
