Aviator Edge
Sunglasses
A half-rim aviator cut with an angled lower edge, on a double-bar metal front with a worked temple. Four colourways.
Polarised lenses with anti-glare treatment and full UV400 filtering.
Half a rim, all the shape
The metal stops halfway. A bar runs across the brow and down the outer edge of each lens, and then the rim simply ends — the bottom of the lens is a cut edge with nothing around it. That is what gives the frame its angle: a straight diagonal across the lower corner that a full rim could never hold.
Photographed here in the gold-and-black finish. The same build is offered in four colourways.
Cut at the bottom
The front is a double-bar metal build — a straight brow bar with a second bar across the bridge — and the rim continues down the outer side of each lens before stopping. Below that line the lens is a bare cut edge, angled in towards the nose.
Each temple carries a worked, textured panel just behind the hinge and then runs back thin into a moulded tip. Nose pads sit on metal arms below the bridge bar, so the frame can be set higher or lower on the nose.
Where it sits
- A wide fit that covers past the outer corner of the eye
- No lower rim, so nothing sits in the line of sight when you look down
- Nose pads on metal arms set the height and keep the lens off the cheek
- A half-rim lens is partly structural — handle the pair by the arms
- The angled lower edge reads sharp in profile as well as head-on
Filtered, not just tinted
The lenses are polarised with an anti-glare treatment and full UV400 filtering across UVA and UVB. Polarisation is what removes the flat white shine off a wet road, a windscreen or open water; UV400 is the protection figure, and it is the number worth reading on any pair.
Every colourway is a gradient — strongest at the top, clearing towards the bottom — which suits a frame where the lower edge is open anyway.
Four colourways, one build
Brown and Black Gold use the gold-tone front with a dark temple; Black and Blue are the same build in dark metal throughout.
Why it costs what it costs
A half-rim build is more work than a full one, not less. The lens has to be cut and grooved to hold in the upper rim with nothing supporting it below, and the bar has to keep it square on its own. A polarised lens costs more than a tint. None of that is where the usual shelf price comes from.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between the frame and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a build like this is simply not in the price. What that money pays for instead is the lens — polarised with UV400 on all four colourways, rather than the good lens being reserved for one finish.
- Sold direct — no retail margin stacked on the frame
- Polarised, UV400 lenses rather than a plain tint
- Half-rim metal front rather than a moulded plastic one
- Nose pads on adjustable arms, so one frame fits a range of bridges
- Four colourways at one price

Is a half-rim frame fragile?
Less than a fully rimless one, because the lens is still held along its top and outer edge. Handled by the arms and kept in a case it behaves like any metal frame.
Can the nose pads be adjusted?
Yes. They sit on metal arms and can be pinched closer or eased apart by hand to raise or lower the frame. Any optician will do it in a minute if you would rather not.
What does polarised actually change?
It removes the flat glare that bounces off horizontal surfaces — wet tarmac, a car bonnet, water, snow. Colours look deeper and you squint less. It is separate from UV filtering, which this lens also carries at UV400.
Is this a large frame?
It is wide rather than tall. The lens carries past the outer corner of the eye, but the open lower edge keeps it from feeling enclosed.
Will the plated finish wear?
It keeps its finish best when the pair goes back into its case rather than loose into a bag.
How should it be cleaned?
Rinse under cool water to lift grit, then dry with the cloth supplied. Dry-wiping a dusty lens is what causes the fine scratching people blame on the coating.
Four colourways, and not many of each
Each finish is held in a small run. The pale blue and the brown are the two that go first, and when a colourway goes it is not always brought back.
Pick your colourway above and add it to the bag. If it is not right on your face, send it back — the only thing you risk is missing the one you wanted.
