Rounded Oval
Sunglasses
A thick oval in moulded acetate, cut small and wrapped close to the face. Three colourways.
Polarised lenses with anti-glare treatment and full UV400 filtering.
Small, thick, wrapped
The lens opening is a short oval and the acetate around it is heavy, but the real decision is the curve: the front wraps towards the face rather than sitting flat, so the frame follows the cheekbone instead of standing away from it. That is what makes a small frame feel deliberate rather than dainty.
Photographed here in black. The same front is offered in three colourways.
Curved, not flat
The front is moulded acetate with the bridge cut into it in one piece, thick across the brow and thicker again at the outer corner where the temple joins. The curve of the front is what distinguishes it: it follows the face rather than crossing it in a straight line.
The temples are wide flat acetate arms on metal hinges, each set with a small metal marker on the outer face. There is no metal anywhere on the front of the frame.
The frame is acetate; the tortoiseshell pattern runs through the material rather than being printed on it.
Where it sits
- A small oval that sits close to the eye rather than covering the socket
- The curved front follows the cheekbone instead of standing away from it
- Thick acetate spreads the weight across the bridge instead of pinching it
- A moulded acetate bridge, so the height on the nose is fixed rather than adjustable
- Wide temples close off the side, so less light comes in from the edge
Filtered, not just tinted
The lenses are polarised with an anti-glare treatment and full UV400 filtering across UVA and UVB. Polarisation is what removes the flat white shine off a wet road, a windscreen or open water; UV400 is the protection figure, and it is the number worth reading on any pair.
Black and White carry a flat dark grey lens; the tortoiseshell finish is paired with a warm brown one.
Three colourways, one front
All three use the same curved front and the same wide temple; only the acetate and the lens tone change.
Why it costs what it costs
A curved acetate front is harder to make than a flat one: the block has to be shaped in three dimensions rather than two, and both sides have to match or the frame sits crooked. The tortoiseshell pattern runs through the material rather than being printed on it. A polarised lens costs more than a tint.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between the frame and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a build like this is simply not in the price. What that money pays for instead is the lens — polarised with UV400 on all three colourways.
- Sold direct — no retail margin stacked on the frame
- Polarised, UV400 lenses rather than a plain tint
- Curved acetate front rather than a flat pressed one
- Pattern running through the material, not printed on the surface
- Three colourways at one price

Is it too small for a wide face?
The opening is small but the front is wide, because the acetate is thick and the shape wraps. It covers less than it looks like it will, which is what makes it read modern.
Are the nose pads adjustable?
No. The bridge is moulded into the acetate front, so the height on the nose is fixed. An optician can warm and reshape acetate slightly, but not the way metal pads adjust.
What does polarised actually change?
It removes the flat glare that bounces off horizontal surfaces — wet tarmac, a car bonnet, water, snow. Colours look deeper and you squint less. It is separate from UV filtering, which this lens also carries at UV400.
Is the tortoiseshell printed on?
No. The pattern runs through the acetate, so it does not wear off at the edges the way a printed finish does.
Will the white frame mark?
A pale frame shows a mark more readily than a dark one, but it is surface only and lifts with the cloth supplied. Keeping the pair in its case is what makes the difference.
How should it be cleaned?
Rinse under cool water to lift grit, then dry with the cloth supplied. Keep acetate away from heat — a car dashboard in summer is what warps a frame, not wear.
Three colourways, and not many of each
Each finish is held in a small run. The white is the one that goes first, and when a colourway goes it is not always brought back.
Pick your colourway above and add it to the bag. If it is not right on your face, send it back — the only thing you risk is missing the one you wanted.
