The strap on this one is short on purpose. It drops the bag into the hollow under your arm rather than letting it swing at the hip, which is why the shape reads flat against the body and why nothing on it is allowed to stick out except the clasp.

A glazed finish is a coat laid over the leather after it is cut, and it shows every flaw underneath, so the panels have to be selected before they are glazed rather than after.
