A wide leg needs more cloth than anything else in the wardrobe
Every extra centimetre of leg opening is cloth across the full length of the trouser, twice. It is the plainest reason a wide-leg jean costs more to make than a straight one and the first place corners get cut.

Why it costs what it costs
A fade on denim is not a print. It is worked into the woven cloth after the jean is made, which means every pair goes through a wet process on its own and comes out fractionally different from the last one.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between this and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a piece like this is simply not in the price.
