Sunglasses for Women
An oversized square in thick acetate, with a gold-tone ornament at each hinge. Four colourways, two of them translucent.
Polarised lenses with anti-glare treatment and full UV400 filtering.
Square and deliberately large
The lens is cut square and carried well past the outer corner of the eye, with acetate thick enough all the way round to give the outline real weight. Two of the four finishes are translucent rather than solid, which changes the frame completely: the same shape reads heavy in black and almost weightless in the clear rose.
Photographed here in the solid black finish. The same front is offered in four colourways.
Thick front, worked temple
The front is moulded acetate, squared at every corner and carried well beyond the lens on each side. On the translucent finishes the material is left unpigmented, so the thickness of the front is visible rather than hidden — which is the whole reason to make a frame that way.
The temples are wide flat arms on metal hinges, each set with a raised gold-tone ornament on the outer face just behind the joint. Below the ornament the arm tapers slightly and finishes flat.
The frame is acetate; the translucent finishes are the same material left unpigmented.
Where it sits
- An oversized square that covers well past the outer corner of the eye
- Thick acetate spreads the weight across the bridge instead of pinching it
- A moulded acetate bridge, so the height on the nose is fixed rather than adjustable
- Wide temples close off the side, so less light comes in from the edge
- Reads large on any face, which is the look rather than a fit issue
Filtered, not just tinted
The lenses are polarised with an anti-glare treatment and full UV400 filtering across UVA and UVB. Polarisation is what removes the flat white shine off a wet road, a windscreen or open water; UV400 is the protection figure, and it is the number worth reading on any pair.
Every colourway is a gradient — darker at the top, clearing towards the bottom — which keeps the lower field of vision open for reading a phone or a menu.
Four colourways, one front
The four options are listed as Rose, Black, Black I and Brown — the two black options are the translucent acetate and the solid one shown above. Pick by name from the options above the page.
Why it costs what it costs
An oversized acetate front uses more material than a normal one and every extra millimetre has to be finished by hand at the edge. A translucent finish is less forgiving again, because any flaw in the block shows straight through. A polarised lens costs more than a tint.
We sell direct. There is no shop floor between the frame and you and no distributor taking a cut on the way, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a build like this is simply not in the price. What that money pays for instead is the lens — polarised with UV400 on all four colourways, rather than the good lens being reserved for one finish.
- Sold direct — no retail margin stacked on the frame
- Polarised, UV400 lenses rather than a plain tint
- Moulded acetate front rather than a thin printed plastic one
- Translucent finishes cut from a clear block rather than sprayed
- Four colourways at one price

Is this a large frame?
Yes. It is cut oversized on purpose — the lens carries past the outer corner of the eye and the temple is broad. On a narrow face it will read big, which for this shape is the point.
Are the nose pads adjustable?
No. The bridge is moulded into the acetate front, so the height on the nose is fixed. An optician can warm and reshape acetate slightly, but not the way metal pads adjust.
What does polarised actually change?
It removes the flat glare that bounces off horizontal surfaces — wet tarmac, a car bonnet, water, snow. Colours look deeper and you squint less. It is separate from UV filtering, which this lens also carries at UV400.
What is the difference between the two black options?
One is a translucent acetate and the other a solid. They are listed as Black and Black I; both carry the same lens.
Do the translucent finishes show marks?
Less than people expect. Skin oil shows on any acetate; on a translucent finish it wipes off the same way. The cloth supplied is enough.
How should it be cleaned?
Rinse under cool water to lift grit, then dry with the cloth supplied. Keep acetate away from heat — a car dashboard in summer is what warps a frame, not wear.
Four colourways, and not many of each
Each finish is held in a small run. The translucent rose is the one that goes first, and when a colourway goes it is not always brought back.
Pick your colourway above and add it to the bag. If it is not right on your face, send it back — the only thing you risk is missing the one you wanted.
